Margaret Badger, Music
Margaret Badger has been teaching music for seventeen years. Her primary instruments are piano and voice, and most of her instruction is one on one. In addition, she works on a variety of ensemble projects.
Margaret came to NCCL in the mid autumn of 2006, after years of hearing about the school through her involvement with Newark Friends Meeting. Her enthusiasm for the students and their joy and freedom to explore their subjects is high, and balanced with an immense respect and admiration for the intense work of the teachers, both as individuals and as a team.
Margaret was born in Trondheim, Norway, and her parents and siblings continue to live in the area of Oslo, Norway. Margaret grew up primarily in the United States but studied music in Norway after high school, and then studied other subjects in Russia and England, as well as at the University of Delaware. Family life began along with music teaching, and she has a son, and two stepdaughters. Currently, she and her husband have one teenager in college and two in high school. They have a dog, Bella, and mourn the loss of their cat, Sprite.
Margaret is a strong believer in multiculturalism. She loves traveling and being domestic with her family. She enjoys living in Newark, and plans to continue to make that her primary residence. Beauty, joy, ideas, fellowship and integrity are important to her.
Margaret hopes to help the NCCL community continue to cultivate their music, in whatever ways complement the desires of the individuals as well as the goals of the community.
