December 18-22:
The kids have been enjoying the opportunity to work with the many volunteers for workshop week. The projects are fantastic! THANK YOU so much to all of the parent volunteers this week!!!
Group 1 Announcements:
Happy Holidays!!!
First of all, we would like to thank the parents that volunteered to run Holiday Workshops for Groups 1 and 2. The kids had a great time and made lots of incredible gifts.
We hope to be sending home many finished personal narratives on Friday. The revising and editing stages of the writing process were challenging for many, but all of our writers have made progress with re-visiting their work, and we hope that with the next writing projects, these tasks will feel more natural.
Have a wonderful vacation. Although January 8 seems like a long way off, I suspect the time will pass quickly. See you in 2007!
We've worked hard this year on our personal narratives in Writing class and are almost finished with the writing part. In the past, we've published the stories in display folders for parents and visitors to read at school. This year, we'll be publishing differently by using a program called "Photo Story." When we return from vacation, the kids will begin turning their words into a media presentation where they'll narrate and use photos that play like a slide show to tell their stories. They can even add mood music in the background. When we're finished, we'll set up a couple of computers in Group 3's nook to be part of our "storytelling booth." There you'll be able to pop in a child's CD and watch/hear their story. It's very exciting. Look for our storytelling booth sometime in February.
